No Bonus From Sprint Race, MotoGP Criticized

Enea Bastianini's manager, Carlo Pernat, strongly criticized the implementation of the sprint race which is planned to be implemented in MotoGP 2023. Pernat said the manufacturers did not offer any bonuses for the riders who competed in the sprint race.
As quoted from Speedweek, Pernat believes that Dorna and the MotoGP racing teams should think about additional bonuses for the racers. Because after all, the sprint race that was held on Saturday produced points.
"There is a big problem that we - as managers - talk about. Because the manufacturer refuses to give a small bonus for the race (sprint race) on Saturday," said Pernat.
Pernat said drivers were furious that there was no extra bonus for Saturday's race. Because the sprint race is a mini race with mini laps, as well as mini points, racers should get a mini bonus as appreciation.
"If there is a half-point race on Saturday then I believe that the drivers also need to receive half of the bonus payout," said Pernat.
Pernat also criticized Dorna Sports for trying to attract as many viewers as possible by adding the sprint race category. For information, the 2023 MotoGP race will be held in 21 series. With the additional sprint race, the racers will undergo 42 races. Of course it will be very, very tiring.
But unfortunately, MotoGP racers cannot demand anything. Because they have already signed a contract extension with their respective teams. Meanwhile, Dorna Sports has just decided on the sprint race in the summer (June-September 2022).
"Dorna decides on instinct rather than thinking about it calmly and talking to everyone to understand the issues going on.
You should just weigh everything and then say, in November at the end of the World Championship season: There will be sprint races in five, ten or all Grand Prix series , bonus payments will be arranged in this way...and so on. FIM is also missing from this discussion," said Pernat.
